Get Your Gear Out of the Car and onto Your Roof

Thule's cargo boxes are designed with your active life in mind. Compatible with all Thule rack systems, as well as round bar and most factory racks, they allow you to get your gear out of your car and onto the top of your roof - saving precious interior space, keeping moisture out of your vehicle when hauling snowsport or watersport gear and securing items that would otherwise roll around during transit. They are innovative, built to last, are easy to load and unload and break down quickly and easily when the time comes. Finally, Thule's assortment of rooftop boxes gives you many options to transport your gear safely, easily and in style. Simply choose the one that best fits the length of your vehicle roof and rack and experience the difference they make in your travels.

Installation with the Easy-Snap Mounting System

Installation and/or removal of the Frontier Rooftop Cargo Box from your rack is easy and fast via Thule's Easy-Snap mounting system. This tool-free mounting system allows you to attach your rooftop box to virtually any roof rack in minutes. Each corner of the Frontier ES has a series of five pre-bored holes aligned along the length of the box. Included U-bolt hardware is slid up from the bottom, across the crossbars of your rack and into two of these five holes. Once through, the hardware attaches to one of the four supplied Easy-Snap clamps. Simply twist the top of the clamp for a secure hold that you can count on, and easily remove as you please. Also included as part of this system are four rubber gaskets to protect the box's finish, and vinyl hole covers to protect block the holes not in use. Because of the pre-bored holes, the Frontier ES requires a minimum spacing of rack crossbars of 23⅝", and a maximum spacing of 32⅞".

About Thule

Thule was founded in 1942 by the Thulin family, when Eric Thulen, a true lover of the outdoors, put the Thule name on a pike trap he designed and began to sell in Scandinavia. It wasn't long before he added other practical items to the company's portfolio. By the 1960s, the company began to concentrate on car-related products, including its first roof rack. The Thulin family sold Thule to the publicly listed company Eldon in 1979, and it has continued to grow both organically and through acquisitions ever since. The Thule Group is a world leader in providing transport solutions for an active life.

5.0 out of 5 stars thule carrier, March 8, 2007

This is a great carrier. We are a family of skiers. This carrier was easy to install and I have put in it two snow boards, two long sets of adult skis, two pairs of kids skis, and poles for the whole family. This allows us to take a better gas mileage vehicle skiing and still fit all of the gear, or to have room for groceries in the van when we come back down off the ski hill.

We bought this car top carrier from out local Sprots Authority just after ski season for $60. I thought it was a good deal.... It was an incredible deal. Amazon and other online retailers will charge around $250 for this, and it is still worth the money. We use it for skiing and the beach. We pack two snowboards and three sets of skis with poles, no problem. For the beach, we can pack a ton of stuff in duffle bags in the carrier and still have room for a quiver of surfboards on the other side of the rack. I even took a road bike to the beach with the car top carrier and four surfboards. Very efficient carrier. Highly recommend. I want to get another to use for carrying the kitesurfing rig + more gear.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thule Frontier Roof Top, December 22, 2008
This review is from: Thule 668ES Frontier Rooftop Cargo Box (Sports)
I purchased this box for our yearly trip to Florida...It was easy to install and you don't even know if it's on top of the car. There is no wind noise or drag. We drove in 45mph gusty winds with no change to handling of car..Highly recommend. Last year we used a soft top carrier to drive back from Florida to Illinois. Arrived home with literally buckets of water in the carrier...NEVER AGAIN!!!
