I got a new car with a different type of roof rail so needed new "feet" for my rack. I've used Thule systems since the mid 90s so am biased and have no experience with Brand X or Y. I used the Thule website to be sure I was ordering the right items. It leads you to retailers so you can quickly look for competitive prices - Amazon seemed to be a good choice. The new feet fit my Audi Avant rails perfectly. The instructions are all visual vs. verbal so it takes a little time to "get" them. However the installation is a snap. They feel secure on the rack - I can't budge them using "reasonable" force so I am confident they won't fly off the car with my bike attached when I hit 75 mph. The covers are a bit hard to fit - one of the four seems to not line up as well as the other three. I was able to use my old locks.

When I bought this component it was advertised with this image: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31lfmrQSneL._SX115_.jpg (paste in your browser's address bar to see the it) Makes it look as if that is all you need to attach the rack to your roof, right? Wrong! Turns out you need to plunk down another $66 to $85 for a "fit kit" Now they've updated the image to make it seem less promising but I still don't see a warning in big red letters specifying that you "NEED TO BUY A FIT KIT, be prepared to spend another 70 bucks" Very disappointing, I'd grown accustomed to better from Amazon.

Very easy to assemble to the load bars. Easy to assemble the Fit Kit to the Foot Pack. Not so easy to mount onto the CRV (related to the design of the Honda CRV, not the Thule product).
