It does exactly what it says. Mounting was pretty simple. I use it to carry my road bike and sometimes mtn bike. I mounted this to factory roof rack on 2000 Ford Windstar. Feels very secure. Great product for the price. The lock is a nice feature too. For those with $$$ bikes, wouldnt hurt to add another secure locking chain if you are traveling. Very pleased with this product.

This product is Excellent. I have a Yakima bike rack too and this one is just as good if not better. It's easy to use and will fit any rack system out there. I bought an Inno rack system and all of the other racks work on it. I love this product.

I installed the Inno bike rack on my 2008 Acura MDX. I have a factory-installed roof rack with cross bars. The Inno kit worked great with my car. I needed a 6-foot ladder to install the Inno kit, and I had to make some adjustments to the separation of the support points, and to how snuggly I wanted to secure my bike's tires. All in all, this kit works great and is priced below its competitors (Thule, Yakima).

    Ultra-light but Heavy on Features

Designed with compatibility in mind, the Helium 3-Bike Hitch Carrier works with either 1¼ inch, or 2 inch hitch receivers by means of an included adapter. It is also incredibly strong, stable and full featured, as seen in its varied standard components, including: top-of-the-line T3 cradles set along the carrier arms for holding bikes in place for maximum frame protection and stability, patented No-Sway Cage technology that, working together with the cradles, dramatically reduces the chance of bike-to-bike and/or bike-to-vehicle contact that could result in scratches, an integrated retractable locking cable that secures bikes to the carrier and lock functionality that can be installed in the ergonomic lock knob that secures the hitch to the hitch receiver.

In addition, by way of its easy-to-use Hitch Switch lever, the Helium 3-Bike Hitch Carrier has the ability to fold its carrier arms down at the push of a button when not in use and even tilt the carrier away from vehicle allowing for trunk, hatch or tailgate access (bikes must be removed first). This means that you can get to every corner of your vehicle when you want to and makes it unnecessary to remove the unloaded carrier in order to perform everyday driving tasks like parking. Also impressive though is that the unit's aluminum based body makes it just half the weight of traditional hitch mounted bike carriers. This along with its virtually tool-free assembly make its installation a breeze and removal just as fast when the carrier is eventually removed.

It wasn't long before he added other practical items to the company's portfolio. By the 1960s, the company began to concentrate on car-related products, including its first roof rack. The Thulin family sold Thule to the publicly listed company Eldon in 1979, and it has continued to grow both organically and through acquisitions ever since. The Thule Group is a world leader in providing transport solutions for an active life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Bikerack ever made (thus far), August 23, 2009

Over the past 40 years, I've either owned or regularly used about 10 different brands and types of bikeracks. While I can't give this rack five stars due to one minor problem, it is by far the best bikerack I've ever used or even heard about. I have it on the back of a 2006 Scion xA. (Did have to get a hitch put on the Scion, but this is very much worth it to be able to use a rack like this rather than some sort of a strapon kludge.)

As with all Thule racks (compared to several competitors), the stretchy rubber straps that hold the bike on the bikerack are easy to use, indeed even better than an older Thule rack I have on my Land Rover. (For instance, the Softride rack we have has straps and posts that are much more difficult to use.)

The posts that stick out the back are close together, so mountain bikes and kid's bikes fit on easily, without having to use the lower post of the bike as one of the attachments to the rack.

It really is light, though... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Thule Helium outshines Yakima, Saris and Softride, July 29, 2010

I have tried out almost every hitch mounted bike rack out there, including the lines from Thule, Saris, Yakima, and Softride. The Thule Helium 3 bike rack is the best out there.

    My criteria:
    1. Access to the back of the vehicle (Mazda MPV)
    2. Securely holds bikes
    3. Accommodates kids bikes
    4. Easy to install/remove

    The Short Story:
    1. Access: just as good or better than any other models.
    2. Secure: holds bikes securely and has good anti theft measures
    3. Kids Bikes: Takes a little creative thinking, but is better than most.
    4. Easy to install: Head and shoulders above the pack. It is so easy that we store it in the back of our van most of the time and whip it out when needed. This rack is completely manageable for my small framed wife!

If I had to list the major pros and cons, it would be these.

    Pros:
    - light, compact, and fast to attach/remove
    - bikes are secure, rack is secured to the... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice rack, but unable to adjust the cradles into position, February 1, 2010

I have just bought this rack through Amazon and installed on my vehicle. It seems really nice, lightweight, and well made. However, out of the box the cradles for holding the bike top tubes are rotated out of position by 90 degrees. According to step 9 of the fit guide the cradles can be rotated and shifted on the bars to accommodate different bike geometries. Similar to another reviewer, I am completely unable to adjust the cradles into position. I am a 200 pound male who rock climbs weekly, and am unable to rotate or move the cradles even a fraction of an inch using my full body strength. I have a tech support email into [...] asking for help, but if this cannot be resolved soon I will be returning for a refund, and probably go with a Kuat instead.

    Update: 5/18/2010
I was able to rotate the the cradles into the correct position using a car oil filter wrench. Great rack - lightweight, doesn't stick out too far so I can leave it on the car all the time, and... Read more
